Lessons
We teach students from age 4 and up. For very young children (4–6), we recommend our introductory programs which focus on music fundamentals, rhythm, and fun. From age 7 onwards, students can begin formal instrument lessons.
Not at all. We welcome complete beginners of all ages. Your first lesson is about getting to know you, your goals, and your current level — there's no pressure and no prior knowledge required.
Lessons are typically 30 minutes for younger beginners and 45 or 60 minutes for older students and adults. Weekly lessons are strongly recommended for consistent progress — fortnightly can work for some students but progress is generally slower.
Yes — we offer an introductory lesson so you can meet your teacher and get a feel for how we work before enrolling in an ongoing program. Enquire about lessons →
We ask for notice by 5pm the day before for cancellations. Lessons cancelled with less notice will be forfeited. Please contact us as soon as possible if something comes up.
Rentals
We offer rentals on a range of school band and orchestral instruments including flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, violin, viola, and cello. View our rental options →
You pay a monthly fee that covers use of the instrument. Rentals typically include basic maintenance cover. At the end of the rental period you can return the instrument, extend, or in some cases purchase it.
Our standard rental agreements are term-based. Contact our team for current terms and conditions, as these can vary by instrument and program.
Rentals are ideal for students just starting out who aren't sure if they'll stick with an instrument, or for school band students who need a specific instrument for the year. School band rentals →
Normal wear and tear is covered. Accidental damage may incur a repair cost depending on severity. Our team will assess the instrument on return and advise accordingly.
Repairs
We repair woodwind (flute, clarinet, saxophone, oboe), brass (trumpet, trombone, French horn), and orchestral strings (violin, viola, cello). We also service guitars. See all repair services →
Simply bring your instrument in to our Brendale store. We'll assess it on the spot and provide a quote before any work is done — no surprises.
Turnaround time depends on the repair required. Minor servicing can sometimes be done same-day or within a few days. More complex repairs may take 1–2 weeks. We'll give you an estimated timeframe when you drop it off.
Costs vary depending on the instrument and the work required. We provide a written quote before starting any repair. Assessments are free.
Yes — we repair and service all brands and instruments regardless of where they were purchased.

Yes — many of our teachers are experienced with the AMEB syllabus and prepare students for exams at all grades across a range of instruments. Learn more →
We recommend at least one full term of dedicated preparation, and two terms for higher grades. The earlier you start, the more confident and polished your performance will be.

AMEB exams are open to students of all backgrounds — you don't need to be enrolled in lessons with us to purchase resources or seek advice. However, we recommend working with an experienced teacher for best results.
