Do I Need Any Equipment?
One of the best things about learning to sing: your instrument is built-in! That said, here are some helpful tools:
-
Water bottle (hydration is key!)
-
Pencil and music notebook
-
Music folder or binder for your sheet music
-
Portable keyboard (optional for home practice)
-
Smartphone or app for warmups and pitch exercises
Cases
While you don’t need a case for your voice, it’s important to:
-
Take care of your vocal cords—rest your voice when tired
-
Avoid yelling or whispering excessively
-
Stay hydrated and warm up before singing
We also teach students proper care and warm-up routines to keep their voices healthy.
Performance & Band Gear
If you plan to perform or sing in a band, you may eventually want:
-
Microphone (dynamic mic for live singing, like Shure SM58)
-
Mic stand and XLR cable
-
Vocal effects processor (optional for pop/electronic styles)
-
Stage monitor or in-ear monitors (for advanced performers)
We can help set up your first vocal performance rig and offer practice with microphones in lessons.
Vocal Maintenance & Health
Your vocal cords are muscles—keep them healthy by:
-
Warming up before singing
-
Drinking water throughout the day
-
Avoiding vocal strain, shouting, or excessive coughing
-
Using steam or vocal sprays if needed
-
Getting proper sleep and staying mindful of stress
If you're feeling hoarse or strained, take a break and let us know.
Servicing and Support
While there’s no physical repair shop for voices, we help with:
-
Vocal rehabilitation techniques
-
Breathing support exercises
-
Troubleshooting tone, tension, or pitch issues
-
Long-term vocal coaching and care
We’re experienced in working with all voice types and ages.
Easy Songs to Start With

-
“Let It Go” – from Frozen
-
“Perfect” – Ed Sheeran
-
“A Million Dreams” – from The Greatest Showman
-
Classic folk or pop tunes with simple melodies
We’ll help you find songs that suit your voice and style.
